The major iPhone 12 redesign Apple is reportedly planning may have just leaked in a new video

Apple is expected to make some significant design changes to its next iPhone, and a new video may give us a better idea of what that might entail.A video published on Thursday by the YouTube channel Everything Apple Pro claims to show the design of Apple's rumored iPhone 12 Pro Max. The video provides a walkthrough of a 3D-printed dummy of an iPhone housing that's based on a rendering obtained by Max Weinbach, a video host and writer for the tech blog XDA Developers.Weinbach has a notable track record of reporting on unreleased smartphones; in recent months he's posted accurate leaks detailing Samsung's Galaxy S20 Plus and the foldable Galaxy Z Flip before they launched. The schematics that Weinbach obtained line up with what rumors and reports about the next iPhone have suggested so far. They show an iPhone design with flat metal edges reminiscent of the iPad Pro and older iPhone models like the iPhone 5. The video also says the iPhone 12 Pro Max will have a 6.7-inch screen.Apple did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment. The model looks almost exactly like what Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Debby Wu described in a report earlier this week, which said the successors to the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max would have stainless-steel edges that lack the curved look of Apple's current smartphones. Ming-Chi Kuo, the TF International Securities analyst known for providing accurate details about upcoming Apple gadgets, also wrote in September that the next-generation iPhone would have edges that resembled those of the iPhone 4, as MacRumors reported at the time. The new leak also suggests that the iPhone 12 Pro Max will have a smaller notch cutout at the top and a bigger screen-to-body ratio, indicating that Apple may be further minimizing the thin bezel framing the iPhone's screen. That lines up with what Bloomberg has reported — it also said the notch on this year's iPhone is expected to be smaller.Other than the revamped design, Apple's next iPhone is expected to come in four variants: two cheaper models that would succeed the iPhone 11, and two more expensive versions that would be follow-ups to the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. The pricier models are said to come with a triple-lens camera system and the new lidar system that debuted on the iPad Pro, while the cheaper models could continue to have a dual camera. They are all expected to support 5G and have OLED screens, which offer sharper contrast and deeper blacks than the LCD panels Apple uses for the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR.It's unclear whether Apple's flagship iPhones will be delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic, which has disrupted Apple's supply chain and has forced the company's workforce to work remotely. Nikkei Asian Review reported in late March that the iPhone 12 might be delayed because of concerns about weak demand amid layoffs and furloughs stemming from the pandemic. Bloomberg reported that the phones might still launch in the fall, but a few weeks late.Check out the full video from Everything Apple Pro below.
