Eclipse: NASA explains the moon’s role in a solar eclipse

On December 14, the Moon will move in front of the Sun, briefly darkening the skies. The solar eclipse, coming on Monday, will only be visible from South America as the new Moon takes to the skies. Only Chile and Argentina, or parts of the Pacific or Atlantic oceans, will get to see what is the final solar eclipse of the decade - with the past decade running from 2011 to 2020, and a new decade to start in 2021.
