绍伊古指北约的军事行动威胁俄罗斯安全。

乌克兰东部紧张局势加剧，俄罗斯国防部长绍伊古周二称，北约的军事行动威胁俄罗斯安全，将采取适当行动回应。他指俄罗斯西部及南部军区的部队，已完成紧急战备检查，海军北方舰队有能力在北极抵御任何挑战及威胁。

绍伊古在北莫尔斯克的工作会议上表示，北约计划在接壤俄罗斯边境部署4万名士兵及1万5000件武器，包括战略航空部队。俄军在3周内向西部边境调派两个军及3个空降兵部队，他们将在驻地完成持续两周的演练。

绍伊古指年初至今，美国在黑海和波罗的海方向的空中侦察增加一倍，海上侦察更增加1.5倍。北约每年在欧洲举行多达40次针对俄罗斯的军事演习，本年春天举行的“欧洲捍卫者2021”演习，更是过去30年最大规模的北约军事演习。

此外，绍伊古指北方舰队配备现代化军事装备，可以在恶劣气候条件下使用；北方舰队亦展开作战训练及各项研究，捍卫俄罗斯在北极的国家利益。
