Summary of the Best Extraction Facials
An extraction facial is a targeted treatment designed to deeply cleanse and decongest clogged pores, revealing a smoother, clearer visage.
It is ideal for those struggling with:
Blackheads: These pesky open comedones appear as dark bumps due to trapped oil and dead skin cells oxidising at the surface.
Whiteheads: Unlike blackheads, whiteheads are closed comedones with a buildup trapped beneath the skin’s surface.
Mild acne breakouts: Extractions can help remove existing blemishes and prevent future ones by clearing clogged pores.
Consultation: A thorough discussion about your skin concerns and goals will take place.
Cleansing: The esthetician will meticulously cleanse your face to remove makeup and surface impurities.
Prep: Steaming or a warm towel treatment may be used to soften pores for easier extraction.
The extraction process: Under a magnifying lamp for precise targeting, the esthetician will use sterile tools or their fingers to gently remove comedones.
Mask: A soothing mask will be applied to minimise redness and irritation.
Moisturising: The treatment concludes with the application of moisturiser and sunscreen.

Sothys Appointed Salon at Grantral Mall
Reviewer: Zile
Sothys is a luxury spa skincare brand that was first founded over 70 years ago in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France.
The Sothys Appointed Salon at Grantral Mall in Singapore, however, has only recently opened its doors to welcome customers looking to enjoy its skincare formulations that give glowing results and pampering facial experiences!
My skin was dull and parched, which is why I was recommended Sothys Salon’s Mineral Oxygenating Facial Treatment, a facial treatment that promises to visibly brighten dull skin.
I also had blackheads on my nose and visible pores on my cheeks, and my esthetician identified these skin issues before my treatment began.
The treatment room was clean, spacious, and luxurious, and it was delightful to step into this tiny “paradise” away from the simplistic interior of the mall where this Sothys Salon is located.
The facial started by indulging me with a soothing aromatherapy step.
The esthetician cupped her hands and held them above my nose so that I could deeply breathe in a herbaceous lavender aroma and settle into my session with ease.
She also firmly pressed her palms against my chin, chest, and shoulders to relax me.
Sothys Salon’s skincare products and heat packs used during the Mineral Oxygenating Facial Treatment.
The next step was cleansing, but it was no ordinary cleansing step because I was enveloped in a lovely, zesty orange fragrance.
Instead of using machine oxygenation, Sothys Salon’s Mineral Oxygenating Facial Treatment relies on its goji berries and orange-infused skincare products – rich in vitamin C – to increase the skin’s oxygen levels, defend the skin against free radical damage, and ultimately brighten the complexion.
At the same time, these orange-infused products offer an invigorating burst of fresh fragrance during the treatment. Right from the cleansing step, the juicy, fruity scents were already working to elevate my facial experience.
The esthetician also applied firm pressure to different areas, such as around my eyes, as she cleansed my skin. I could feel the tension ease out of my facial muscles – hardly have I encountered a cleansing step that was so satisfying.
To exfoliate my skin, the esthetician applied an orange-scented peel to my face and left it on for a few minutes.
While the peel set in, she gave me a thorough facial and shoulder massage, even turning my face to the sides and pressing my shoulders to realign my posture.
She also massaged along my jawline in small upward spirals, releasing the tension that I held at that part of my face.
After the few minutes were up, she lightly swept the peel’s beads across my skin to gently slough away my dead skin cells.
I thoroughly enjoyed the massages that accompanied the different facial steps, and the treatment proved to be ultra-satisfying, especially in this area.
My face was already prepped for steaming after the exfoliation step, but the Mineral Oxygenating Treatment takes it one step further by also using the brand’s Desquacream to penetrate deeper into the pores and soften blackheads.
I don’t usually appreciate the steaming process during a facial treatment, but the esthetician was so careful in positioning the steamer that I enjoyed this step much more than I usually would.
When she turned the steamer on, she held up her hand to check that it was positioned well, so that the steam was directed at my skin without being too dense or hot. I even drifted into a light sleep during the steaming step because of how comfortable it was.
The esthetician applied firm pressure during the other steps of the facial, but when it came to the extraction step, she was very gentle.
The extractions were hardly uncomfortable, and the esthetician was also thorough, sweeping her hands across my skin to check for any blackheads she might have missed out.
To wrap up, a vitamin C lotion and serum were applied to my skin, both of which smelt tantalisingly like fruity orange. She performed a very thorough, elaborate face massage on my skin, before slathering a soft oxygen mask over my face.
As she let the mask sit, she gave me a shoulder massage, applying strong pressure to the back of my neck, my shoulders, and my upper back.
She even massaged my upper arms and placed two heat packs beneath my shoulders, before leaving me to enjoy the rest of masking time alone.
My skin right before and after the facial treatment.
Right after the facial, my skin looked a little brighter and my skin was cleared of its blackheads, so my pores looked less visible too. It was only the next morning, however, that my skin looked even brighter and with a subtle glow.
What I loved most about Sothys Salon’s Mineral Oxygenating Facial Treatment were the product’s delightful scents that truly brought my facial pampering to the next level, as well as the satisfying hand massages that were performed throughout the treatment.
The extractions were also gentle and thorough, and left my skin looking clearer than before!

Porcelain Skin: Quintessential™ Facial Review
Reviewer: Melissa Loh
Finding a facial that caters to combination-oily, acne-prone skin is no easy feat. So, when I got the chance to try the highly acclaimed Porcelain’s Quintessential™ Facial, I was eager to see what the buzz was all about.
The journey began with a 30-minute Skin Discovery Enhanced analysis, where my skin was closely examined using high-tech imaging. Based on the results, my therapist pointed out that my biggest concern was my pores, which were 99% more severe than average.
The analysis also revealed a severity level of 83% for wrinkles, but she assured me that this might be attributed to built-up skin rather than age-related factors.
Armed with this personalised insight, I received actionable advice, including exfoliating more frequently and staying diligent with sunscreen.
The facial started with a meticulous double cleansing to remove makeup and daily grime. The therapist then applied a clay mask tailored to my skin type, sloughing away dead skin cells and unveiling a youthful glow beneath. It also helped to prep my skin for the extraction step.
Extraction at Porcelain is unlike any other. The therapist took a thorough, pore-by-pore approach that, while lengthy, was tolerable and considerate of my sensitive skin.
During the extraction, my therapist kept checking on my comfort and used toner-soaked cotton pads on one side of my face to prevent dryness—a nice, thoughtful touch.
After the extraction, a cooling transparent gel was applied to calm redness, followed by a customised mask featuring ingredients carefully chosen for my skin’s needs. This step left my face feeling rejuvenated, with a calming effect that significantly reduced the redness and irritation.
Porcelain tailors treatments to each person’s skin type and concerns. To address mine, the therapist used a blue LED treatment specifically for acne.
If you’re looking for a deep cleanse and skin rejuvenation, consider booking an extraction facial in Singapore at Porcelain Skin. Their specialised extraction facials effectively target clogged pores and improve skin texture.
While my skin revelled in the LED treatment, I’m treated to a blissful shoulder and back massage.
The last step in the Quintessential™ Facial is an essential one: sunscreen. The therapist understood the importance of safeguarding my skin and with a final touch, she applied a lightweight and non-greasy sunscreen.
She also offered thoughtful advice, emphasising the importance of using products that fight acne-causing bacteria without overloading my skin.
To my delight, the Porcelain’s Quintessential™ Facial surpassed my expectations. My skin felt softer, smoother, and clearer, with no new breakouts a week later. Redness in problem areas faded within days and the thorough extraction left my skin noticeably more refined than any other facials I’ve gotten!
If you’re looking for a transformative experience tailored to your skin’s unique needs, this treatment is worth a try.
The Porcelain Therapist Quintessential™ Facial, priced at S$648 for 120 minutes, now offers a special first-time trial promotion. Reach out to learn more and click here to book an appointment!

Are you looking for a luxurious escape that will leave you feeling revitalised and refreshed? Look no further than La Source Spa, where beauty and wellness go hand in hand.
Located in the heart of Orchard Road, La Source Spa is the perfect tranquil retreat for those seeking a little extra pampering. The spa’s holistic approach is all about balancing both body and mind, and they offer a wide range of carefully curated services and treatments to help you achieve just that.
Whether you’re in need of a therapeutic massage or a high-tech figure-shaping treatment, their skilled team is here to help.
If your skin is in need of a little detox, try the 5-in-1 Super Facial Treatment, a customisable facial that taps into the benefits of radiofrequency (RF) and ultrasound to repair the skin cells and prompt regeneration.
To find out how effective it really is, I headed down to the spa to try it out to find out how effective it is.
After I was ushered into the treatment room, my esthetician began the facial by massaging a scented oil on my face and neck, which eased my senses right away. She then proceeded to remove my makeup with micellar water, followed by a cleansing milk.
Then came the first signature step of the facial: the TriPollar treatment. My esthetician slathered gel on my skin first to protect it from the heat generated by the machine, which delivers RF energy to stimulate collagen production.
I could feel the machine heating up slowly, and while it felt really warm, it wasn’t uncomfortable as the esthetician glided the device around my face.
After the TriPollar treatment was the OxyGeneo step. The esthetician also prepped my skin with a coat of gel before using an OxyPod capsule that contained hydrating active ingredients to treat my skin concerns.
The head of the OxyGeneo machine is a little rougher to the touch, but it helps to exfoliate dead skin cells while the OxyPod capsule bubbles on the skin. It may be a little uncomfortable because of its prickly sensation, but it was definitely bearable.
In most facials, the extraction step is often performed earlier in the treatment, but for La Source Spa’s 5-in-1 Super Facial Treatment, it’s only done after thorough exfoliation. I have low pain tolerance, but I was able to endure this step.
I appreciated how reassuring the esthetician was during the extraction step and how she tried to distract me with small talk, especially at points where she knew would be the most painful, such as my chin. She worked fast and didn’t focus too much on any areas of my face.
The next step was my favourite part of the facial. The ultrasound treatment sends vibrations deep into the skin, which helps increase the absorption of nutrients from the previous steps. The device felt warm, comfortable, and so soothing on my skin that I almost fell asleep!
To end off the session, my esthetician applied a hydrating sheet mask and left it on for about 10 minutes to amp up my skin’s moisture levels.
Right after the session, my skin felt soft, smooth, and incredibly hydrated. I’ve never felt my skin this smooth before, and it was amazing to see its effect in just one session. I couldn’t help but keep touching my face when I was home (with clean hands, of course).
A week later, my skin appeared brighter and felt more hydrated than usual. As someone with oily skin, my skin never felt so balanced, moisturised, and soft.
I liked how attentive my esthetician was throughout the treatment. She made sure that I didn’t feel too hot or cold in the room, and she checked in on how I felt about certain steps of the treatment.
I highly recommend this facial! The glow-giving effects lasted for more than a week, which makes the session so worth it.

Who knew there’d be a tranquil haven right in the middle of town?
Located in the bustling heart of Orchard lies a quaint and minimalist salon that welcomes you with such warmth and calm. Ceramique Aesthetics.Wellness is a specialist salon that provides tailor-made skin treatments, on top of hair removal sessions and body therapy. They also have another branch in Chinatown.
Ceramique Aesthetics.Wellness promises their customers a relaxing experience and instantly glowing, radiant skin. And let me tell you, that’s just what I got!
I went in for the Anti-Imperfect Extraction Facial, which treats acne, blackheads, clogged pores and skin inflammation. The entire session lasted for approximately 90 minutes but can vary depending on the extraction process.
The session left me feeling rejuvenated and fresh. While 120 minutes seem like a long time, that time just passes by once you start your session. You’ll definitely wish it was longer; I know I did.
Skin analysis and consultation at Ceramique Aesthetics.Wellness
My session started with an in-depth consultation with the consultant. She gave me a quick skin assessment and meticulously explained the treatment and its steps. She walked me through what each step was meant to do and what products would be used. Unlike many other facial treatments out there, Ceramique uses organic products from France, a brand that specialises in organic skincare. So, you can rest assured knowing that there aren’t any harmful chemicals touching your skin.
After the consultation, it was time to finally start the facial. It began with a lymphatic face and shoulder massage that will relax your body and mind. In an instant, you’ll be transported into a calm space and forget that you’re right in the middle of bustling Orchard.
Next came a double cleanse that cleansed away impurities while still leaving your skin supple and soft. This was followed by a balancing solution which purified my skin and helped reduced any inflammation.
After that, it was time to exfoliate. If you have sensitive skin like me, exfoliating can be quite daunting, but as I mentioned earlier, Ceramique uses organic products for this Anti-Imperfect Extraction Facial. On top of that, their beauticians are all highly trained and have years of experience in treating an array of skin conditions. So, even with the potential harshness of exfoliating, my skin still felt healthy and clean.
Extraction process at Ceramique Aesthetics.Wellness
Then, came the hard’ part. If you have ever had an extraction facial before, you know that it can be very far from relaxing. It can hurt and even make you shed a tear or two. But at Ceramique, they use a new extraction technique which is much more detailed than traditional extraction processes. It was a lot less painful than any other extraction I’d had before. Beyond that, my beautician also made sure to slow her pace whenever I felt any sort of pain.
After the extraction, it was time for an antiseptic application which purified and cleansed the skin. It also helped stimulate the skin to protect from any future spots and pimples. There was a slight tingling sensation during this step, but it wasn’t too bad to handle.
Next came another lymphatic massage, followed by a mask, which helped control sebum production, as well as lock in all the goodness from the previous steps.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and my facial treatment was finished off with a hydrating cream that kept sebum at bay. The cream was rich in essential oils which helped refine and tighten pores and smooth skin texture.
After the treatment, I instantly noticed how radiant my skin looked. My skin looked brighter, more supple and less oily. I even noticed that a lot of my acne pigmentation had lightened. Also, usually after an extraction facial, I would expect my skin to look red, but this time it wasn’t. It was all probably due to Ceramique’s unique extraction technique.
To continue the amazing effects of my treatment, I was given a few product testers to try at home. Over the next few days, I definitely noticed my skin looking brighter and a lot healthier. I also had no new breakouts, which was truly impressive.
The whole experience was absolutely fantastic, from the top-notch service to the immaculate dcor. And of course, the facial. It’s just what you need if you’re looking to give your skin some TLC.

Nestled amongst the row of shophouses just across the road from TripleOne Somerset is My Cozy Room, a facial spa brand that’s provided effective extraction facials for its customers for over 10 years now.
The Ultimate Pore Extraction Facial is the crowd favourite treatment for thorough extractions. Besides relatively less painful extractions, the facial is also known to be a treat to the senses as it includes a range of unique steps like a hot stone massage and cooling crystal therapy.
Since I get frustrated at the blackheads and whiteheads that make my skin look more textured and uneven than it needs to be, I decided to try the Ultimate Pore Extraction Facial during my very first visit to My Cozy Room.
The treatment session started with a detailed consultation, where the esthetician examined my skin and asked me about my skin concerns and skincare habits.
Aside from blackheads and whiteheads, the esthetician also noted my skin’s dryness, especially on my cheeks. The facial treatment would be customised to improve my skin concerns, she assured me.
To ease me into the facial, the esthetician performed a comfortable massage around my eye area using a cool crystal tool and gave me a stimulating head massage, which I enjoyed.
After cleansing, the esthetician used an ultrasonic skin scrubber tool to slough away my skin’s impurities. As I felt the gentle buzz of the device against my skin and listened to its metallic hum, I thought that it was one ASMR-worthy step in the treatment.
Several skincare steps ahead, it was time for the anticipated extractions.
Unlike most other facial treatments, this one used a Pore Refine Solution sheet mask to cover my face. The esthetician lifted up the mask at different areas – my forehead, cheek, chin, and nose – to perform extractions each time.
She explained that doing so would further soften the pores for a more comfortable extraction. Masking the skin again right after the extractions were done would also help to soothe the skin and minimise redness.
The esthetician was thorough with her extractions, even clearing the pores at my chin area without being prompted to do so, as well as picking on a pimple close to my hairline.
In contrast to the dense hot steam that was directed on my face before the extraction step, the esthetician performed a Coolight Therapy on my face after the extractions were done.
Besides tightening my pores and reducing redness, the Coolight Therapy treated my skin to an ice-cool sensation, which was invigorating and soothing all at once.
Throughout the facial, I was indulged with a series of massages and sense-piquing steps, making the treatment a unique one overall.
The step I liked most was the hot stone massage, where the esthetician used two electronically-charged hot “stones” to massage my shoulder and neck area.
The warm sensation made the massage even more satisfying, quickly releasing the tension in my muscles and easing out some knots I had. This was the first time I enjoyed a pampering “hot stone” massage during a facial treatment, and I loved it.
After the facial, the skin around my nose, cheeks, and chin was smoother, and the red spot on my nose healed quickly too. The flakey patches on my cheeks were less dry, and my skin looked more radiant than before!
If you’re hoping to clear the congestion in your skin whilst experiencing an assortment of unique treatment steps, My Cozy Room’s Ultimate Pore Extraction Facial is one that’s worth a shot!
