14 Retailers Besides J.Crew For Your Fall Work Wardrobe

14 Retailers Besides J.Crew For Your Fall Work Wardrobe

BuzzFeed-Shopping·2025-09-16 05:02

Whenever I am looking to update my office wardrobe, I check out my go-to staple brands, like J.Crew, Everlane, Quince and Anthropologie. I can always count on them to have lovely clothes that will look and feel great. But many often-overlooked retailers are chock-full of beautiful pieces at a range of price points, all of which deserve dedicated perusal.

Eloquii, COS, Universal Standard, Boden

I’m making an effort to expand my fall work outfit shopping to a wider selection of shops, and each one is more stylish, timeless and sophisticated than the next. All of them have some seriously special pieces that we’d be remiss in not discussing.

Below, I’ve rounded up a selection of brands and retailers that are worthy of our attention. They include old faves we forgot about and new-to-us brands that have caught our eye. Take a look and pick up a few of their gorgeous wares to start autumn off on the right foot, sartorially speaking.

Unless otherwise specified, all sizes in this post are listed in women's.

1. COS

COS

I love how COS is able to elevate everyday basics and add interesting details to otherwise mundane items, like giving these structured trousers a barrel leg. It adds a lot of visual interest and panache without looking overly dramatic. They're on my shortlist for this year's fall shopping.

COS is an absolute dream for anyone who is a fan of minimalist designer brands like The Row, Jil Sander and Calvin Klein. Its clothing is beautifully designed to stand the test of time, look much more expensive than it actually is and is anything but boring. Anytime I find myself itching for a designer piece, I check to see if COS has a more affordable alternative — and most of the time, it does.

Get them from COS for $139 (available in sizes 2–14 and also in black).

2. Boden

Boden

Boden is a British brand dedicated to making happy clothes that will make wearers feel good. One look at their assortment of beautiful garments and it's clear it has succeeded in its mission. The clothes all have that effervescent U.K. feel that is tailored and polished, without feeling stuffy or boring. Every time I scroll through their site, I find myself adding items to my wishlist.

There are too many goodies to choose from, but this ponte dress just might be the ultimate blend of form and function. The soft, stretchy fabric has just enough heft to feel substantial and a lovely drape. It even has pockets! You can get it in petite, regular and long lengths in sizes 0–22.

Get it from Boden for $169.

3. Sézane

Sézane

Everyone needs a good pair of wool trousers in their arsenal, and these Sézane pants are to die for. They have a high-rise waistline and a wide, straight leg for a timeless, Katherine Hepburn-inspired look. They come in several different colors (though I'm obsessed with the herringbone) in sizes 2–14.

This French brand is known for its spin on French classics, and everything from their coats to their accessories is worth a peek. The items in its collection range from splurge-y to relatively affordable, so you can enjoy well-made, beautiful clothing that fits in your price point. I assumed I couldn't afford this brand for a long time, but have come to value Sézane clothing as a worthy investment. It's as chic as it gets.

Get them from Sézane for $170.

4. Shopbop

Shopbop

Shopbop is the perfect place to go if you want to shop your old favorite brands alongside newer labels you are less familiar with, from high-end to affordable. I love to poke around for items like Madewell shoes that have sold out on the brand's website, great jeans, accessories and designer goods on sale. And since they're affiliated with Amazon, you can use Prime to get fast, free delivery and easy returns. It couldn't be more convenient. I've been dying for a pair of Vibi Venezia flats like the ones pictured, and thanks to Shopbop, I can get them without having to pay for overseas shipping fees and additional tariffs.

Get them from Shopbop for $150 (available in sizes 5–11).

5. Eloquii

Eloquii

These trousers at Eloquii couldn't be more elegant, and are indicative of the quality of style you can find at this popular plus-size retailer. With vertical back darts, exaggerated pleating and a long, thin, removable belt, these pants are as stylish as they are comfortable. You can get them in sizes 14–32 in two colors.

Right now, Eloquii is full of covetable, beautiful items just in time for the colder weather. It's the perfect place to stock up and enjoy fall and winter while looking drop-dead gorgeous.

Get it from Eloquii for $109.95.

6. Ann Taylor

Anne Taylor

Somewhere along the way, we forgot about Ann Taylor. But I've been checking in on this long-loved brand for the past few months, and their designs are a must for all contemporary working women. There is even an entire section dedicated to office attire on its website. This pleated skirt is a great example of Ann Taylor's understated, refined elegance. It's available in classic and petite lengths in three colors in sizes 00–18. Like the rest of the brand's wares, it deserves a spot in your closet rotation.

Get it from Ann Taylor for $104.30+ (originally $149).

7. Aritzia

Aritzia

I have long turned to Aritzia for loungewear, but am only recently discovering a love of the Canadian brand's surprisingly sophisticated everyday staples, like this elegant cashmere polo. It has a perfect, relaxed drape that skims the body and is available in five colors and sizes XXS–XL. Don't be fooled by the brand's youthful fanbase and waify models, the clothing fits beautifully and is made with high-quality materials. Even Jenna Lyons wears Aritzia as their new campaign star.

8. Loft

Loft

It used to be that Loft was considered a bit frumpy, but that is definitely no longer the case. Its selection of super stylish, incredibly on-trend clothing that is wearable and perfect for all manner of situations is as good as it gets. Case in point: these stunning kick flair pants. Available in regular, tall and petite lengths, these pants are a dream — and you can wear them from the playground to the office with ease.

Get them for Loft for $59.97+ (originally $99.95; available in sizes 0–18, in petite and tall fits, and three colors).

This convertible dress at Theory is truly versatile and was designed to be worn three different ways. This kind of innovative design is representative of Theory's unique style vision. The brand's clothing are refined and well-tailored while still leaving plenty of room for self-expression and creativity. Everything from Theory's blazers to shoes are worth a look.

Dress it up or down depending on your workplace, but either way, you're going to be the best-dressed person there. You can get it in sizes 00–40 in four colors.

11. Uniqlo

Uniqlo

Would you believe me if I told you I own two of these simple white button-downs from Uniqlo? And I will be getting more! It's the place to go for staples, from its essential Heattech collection for winter warmth to its cult-fave packable puffer coats. The brand always has interesting collaborations with high-end designers, including Dior's new creative director Jonathan Anderson, and just this week, the iconic Cate Blanchett was named brand ambassador. I will definitely be stocking up on everything from socks to jackets this fall.

Get it from Uniqlo for $39.90 (available in sizes XXS–XXL and four colors).

12. Abercrombie & Fitch

Abercrombie & Fitch

I have been pleasantly surprised by the Abercrombie & Fitch renaissance. This early aughts mall classic keeps churning out hits, from jeans (I've been living in these high-rise jeans) to workwear, like this gorgeous collarless blazer that looks like vintage Chanel upon first glance. Pair it with trousers, skirts or even over a dress and watch the compliments roll in. You can also layer it with a T-shirt or a thin turtleneck as it gets colder. This is a wonderfully versatile piece. You can get it in sizes XXS–XL.

Get it from Abercrombie & Fitch for $60+ (originally $120).

13. ASOS

ASOS

It's easy to dismiss ASOS as a platform for young people, but it has a surprising amount of stylish, office-appropriate clothing for individuals of all ages. Best of all, most of its collection is reasonably priced, making it a very accessible place to shop and stock up on fall staples, like this effortlessly stylish skirt. Pair it with a cardigan and ballet flats for the ultimate autumnal vibe.

Get it from ASOS for $64.99 (available in sizes 4–12).
