Two elderly women were sent to the hospital last Friday (9 Oct) afternoon after a Rolls-Royce and a BYD electric car were involved in an accident opposite Clarke Quay.

Photos of the aftermath posted on Facebook showed that a Rolls-Royce had T-boned the BYD car at the junction of New Bridge Road and Carpenter Street.

According to the photos, the Rolls-Royce had apparently been travelling straight along New Bridge Road, while the BYD had turned into Carpenter Street when the collision occurred.

This damaged the Rolls-Royce’s front, forming a large dent, and partially dislodging its bumper and licence plate.

The door on the BYD’s left backseat passenger side caved in from the impact, deploying its airbags.

A subsequent TikTok video, recorded from the upper deck of a bus, showed that the police and an ambulance had arrived at the scene.

A tow truck was also there to remove the accident vehicles.

Another Facebook photo depicted paramedics pushing an injured person on a stretcher, possibly to convey them to the hospital.

In a post on X, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said at 3.21pm that the accident had occurred along New Bridge Road towards Hongkong Street.

Authorities advised motorists to avoid lane 4.
