2025 Golden Globes: Here’s What Dwayne Johnson Does With His Chest Hair

E! News·2025-01-06 10:03

There's no limit to how far Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will go to help out his fellow actors.

In fact, the Moana 2 star—who presented, alongside Auli'i Cravalho, the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture to Zoe Saldaña at the Jan. 5 event—told his costar exactly how generous he has been to fellow actor Timothée Chalamet.

"I donate all of my hair to film productions in need," Johnson quipped from the stage. "As a matter of fact, 30 percent of Timmy Chalamet's Bob Dylan wig is authentic, 100 percent Dwayne Johnson chest chair."

And, of the A Complete Unknown actor—who is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture—Drama alongside Adrien Brody, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes and Sebastian Stan—Dwayne added, "And yes, I get to call him Timmy," before bursting into song, much like his Moana character.

But the stage wasn't the only place the 52-year-old spoke about his hair. Indeed, the Jumanji star spoke about his time portraying his character Maui in the live-action version of Moana while on the red carpet alongside his 23-year-old daughter Simone.

"Maybe I gotta grow my hair out," he told E! News correspondent Zuri Hall. "The thing about Moana, and I think the success about Moana, it’s just been this global embrace of our Polynesian culture and it’s really cool."

But what Dwayne—who is also dad to Jasmine, 9, and Tiana, 6—loves most about the film's success is the impact it's had on his children.

"Of everything that I love about Moana," he continued, "the thing that I love most [is] all three of my daughters see themselves in Moana. And I think this idea of emboldening and empowering our young women and how important that is. And I get to run around, with my long hair as Maui, and go, ‘Cheehoo,’ and embolden our young girls—it’s awesome."
