26-Year-Old Rapper Latto Admitted That She Finds Being Rich “Boring” Since Becoming A Millionaire At 21, And It’s Sparked A Conversation About How Celebs Use Their Wealth
Last week, rapper Latto candidly opened up about her wealth during an appearance on Complex’s 360 With Speedy.

The 26-year-old, formerly known as Mulatto, found fame nearly a decade ago after winning the first season of Lifetime’s The Rap Game. In 2020, her single “B*tch From Da Souf” went super viral, and she’s since collaborated with a range of A-Listers.
While noting that she’s proud of her financial success, Latto admitted that she finds being rich “kinda boring” after she was asked what it feels like to be able to buy whatever she wants.

“It’s kinda boring,” she said. “I was a millionaire at 21. So it’s like, you grow up fast, already being in the industry at a young age and then when you have a lot of money at a young age, too.”

“I think I get the most ‘fun’ spoiling everybody around me now. I spend more money on other people than I do myself. I be so stingy with my money for myself,” she continued.

“It’s boring. Money is not…I don’t think that’s what everybody should be chasing. It’s fun, don’t get me wrong,” she said before adding that she thinks people should be chasing “true happiness.”

“The average person don’t have a lot of money. I think we chase it, like, OK I gotta get this money. Then when you get this money, it’s like, Damn. Now what? And I don’t even have a billion yet, you know,” Latto added.

The rapper noted that when she earned her first million dollars, she “went crazy” with her spending, buying herself a Bentley, chains, and more. However, she noted that “it just got old fast.”

And when it was suggested that she might have had a “different appreciation” for money if she’d acquired her wealth later in life, Latto agreed. “Obviously it has its pros, but I don’t know if it’s the best thing for a 21-year-old to be seeing that much money that fast. Like, it kinda takes away life’s experiences,” she shared.

Latto’s candid comments have since picked up steam online, and while some X users noted that they understand her sentiment, others wound up debating how celebrities use their wealth.

“girl boo…create a scholarship program? job program for homeless ppl? SOMETHING,” one person wrote in response to Latto’s remarks. “If you consistently gave back to the community then there would always be a reason to chase the money, no?” another person said.

“theres people around the same age who can't even survive on a daily basis and you're complaining about having too much fucking money,” one person said. “I don't like anyone who complains about having money, some people are living paycheck to paycheck,” said another.
“first world problems. bring back READING THE ROOM abilities for celebrities,” someone wrote, while one more user added, “ppl with money shouldn’t be complaining about having money.”
