1. A time- and lifesaving/changing formula dispensing machine for mixing and warming consistently perfect formula-based ba-bas in a matter of mere seconds.

Amazon

The Baby Brezza has been one of my best investments for year one in Babyland. Late-night feeds no longer mean fumbling, spilling, mixing, warming, and then, minutes later, delivering a so-so bottle to a crying child. No, in seconds, a measured and warm concoction is in hand and then in the baby's mouth. Just add water to the tank and formula to the dispenser and serve bottles ranging between 2 ounces–10 ounces warmed to three different temperatures. The time, effort, and stress this wonderful machine has saved me from is emotionally immeasurable and worth the price tag. It even forces you to clean it after every four uses because that formula gets gunky, and you get lazy. Beyond worth it!

Promising review: "A little pricey but worth it! We love this and wish we had purchased it so much sooner. Make sure to buy an extra filter, though, as it needs to be cleaned after three uses. If you're hesitant to purchase, don't be. Making bottles in the middle of the night a million times easier." —Amanda Jacobson

Get it from Amazon for $195.49.

2. A set of adjustable interlocking foam tiles you can arrange in different design patterns, and thankfully won't clash with the rest of the room (because gray and cream go with everything). They can also withstand an absolute beating from the kids!

Amazon

Promising review: "We bought this for our main living area, as this is where the kids primarily play, and we tend to relax together. In place of a rug, this is easily wiped clean if the kids spill and soft if they wrestle or fall down (one-year-old learning to walk). It was pricey in my opinion, but well worth it so far. The kids have really enjoyed having this on our living room floor. And I don’t mind it since the colors blend in with our living room colors well." —Miranda

Get it from Amazon for $67.95

3. A 32-piece set of Magna-Tiles that's built to last, especially when it comes to building all manner of shapes, animals, and vehicles. Legit fun for the whole fam and worth the investment.

www.amazon.com

Promising review: "These are a lot of fun; my kids play with them for hours on end. I also enjoy playing with them. I think that they will be fun for years to come as well, which is always awesome. Sometimes it seems kids' toys are only fun for the kids for a year, but not these. They are a little expensive but totally worth it." —Galen H.

Get it from Amazon for $47.72.

4. A 100-piece first aid kit packed with bandages, butterfly closures, gauze pads, ointments, examination gloves, an instant cold compress, and more for any emergencies that don't (hopefully) require a trip to the emergency room.

Amazon

Promising review: "I bought this first-aid kit with the intention of keeping it in the car. Having kids, accidents always happen. It is the perfect size to keep in the trunk. It has everything you could need... for the price, it was worth every penny!" —Julie H.

Get it from Amazon for $8.99

5. An easy-to-transport SlumberPod portable sleep pod because trying to get your kid to sleep in new surroundings away from home is always challenging. This portable privacy sleep nook for babies and toddlers even has a built-in fan for those warmer nights. Now everyone can sleep!

SlumberPod

Promising review: "We took a 10-day road trip stopping in all different locations with my 18-month-old. Such a game changer! No stress at all as to where or how he would nap! He slept great everywhere, and I didn’t have to do my usual 'trying-to-make-blackout-shades-on-the-fly' everywhere we went like I had to do with my other two when they were little.

Pro tips for parents: Do a test run setting it up before you travel. It’s not terribly hard, but the first attempt needs some extra time. Also, the tent runs warm, so make sure your child is wearing light, breathable clothes... Overall, a fantastic product well worth the price in quality and utility! Just calculate cost per use, and you’ll easily see how affordable it becomes." —jillyb

Get it from Amazon for $199.99.

6. A Lovery activity gym and playmat (which is washable) for developing your baby's physical, cognitive, visual, and motor learning skills. So much fun (learning) packed into one playset!

Amazon

Promising review: "Like many have already said, this is an expensive playmat! And, as others have also acknowledged, it is so worth it! I got this when my baby was only a couple of weeks old. She's our first, so I wanted to get a playmat that seemed like it would last from child to child but would also age with my baby. This fits that want perfectly!" — GraceO

Get it from Amazon for $145.

7. A 15-inch Skylight touchscreen family calendar to keep everyone's important dates in one centralized place. There's also a "chores" chart that can keep track of what needs to be done and who needs to do it (we call that an argument-ender). Also, it's wall mountable.

www.amazon.com

Promising review: "We are a family of seven, and this has single-handedly been the most helpful tool to our household this year. The kids love the tasks and rewards systems (I think the rewards system requires a yearly subscription, but it's worth it). This thing quickly replaced our family calendar, and now everyone easily knows what is expected of them every day. The 15-inch screen fits perfectly on a countertop or ledge and is plenty big enough without straining your eyes. It's pretty simple to set up and sync your phones right out of the box. The most unexpectedly fun feature of it has been the photo gallery screen saver. We add tons of photos to it, and we enjoy scrolling through them. If you can swing the cost of it, it's worth checking out." —Zach San Miguel

Get it from Amazon for $299+ (available in five colors).

8. And of course, you'll need to pack everything in an L.L. Bean book pack, that's what they call it, but all the cool kids are calling it a backpack (cause that rhymes). These packs are built to last, plus (for a small cost) you can get names and initials embroidered.

L.L. Bean

Promising review: "Size and quality are perfect for my second grader. I’m expecting it will last the rest of elementary school. Well worth it!" —Shopgirl152

Get it from L. L. Bean for $44.95 (available in six colors)

9. A LÍLLÉbaby six-Position ergonomic baby and child carrier so parents can go "hands-free" and actually get stuff done knowing that their child is actually strapped to them and can't get away.

Amazon

Promising review: "If you are on the fence about a carrier or looking to gift a first-time mom with something awesome. Pull the trigger on this and do it. It is SOO worth it. The weight limit is 45 pounds, and it can be used from birth. I am ten months in, and we're at 25 pounds. I suspect I will get another year out of this weight-wise; whether or not she will want to be carried is another question. There is also a Facebook group that happily does fit checks to make sure you and your little one are comfy! I feel like it's been a life-changing experience for me and my little one. I cannot say how much stress has been relieved for us both since I am still able to do things and my child is able to snuggle mom." —Anastasia

Get it from Amazon for $79.99+ (available in four colors).

10. A Baby Nasal Aspirator NoseFrida (aka The Snotsucker), which many parents will tell you, is an essential element worthy of any new parent's arsenal of baby gear.

www.amazon.com

Promising review: "Mom and Dad, whatever you do, don't believe the negative comments on this. It is honestly the most amazing thing ever. I took my baby to the doctor for an ear infection and a bad cough. The doctor said I had to be extremely diligent in removing all her boogers to stop the congestion in her chest and nose, which was also leading to the ear infection... well, after hearing positive things about this and reading the negative stuff. I took a shot at it, and believe me when I tell you, it has been a really good purchase and well worth it. Super easy to use. In the beginning, your child might not be a fan of it, but within days he or she will start to notice that it's not painful, and it will become a lot easier to suction out all the gunky stuff! Give it a try; I promise you won't regret it." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $13.62+.

11. A hypoallergenic Newton baby crib mattress that's both breathable (meaning babies can sleep face down with no worry) and washable (so you'll never have to see any pee, poo, or puke stains). Also, it's 100% recyclable when it's time to graduate to the big kid bed.

www.amazon.com

Promising review: "I had tried to convince myself I didn't need this mattress and even purchased a different one when we set up the nursery, since our baby would be in a bassinet in our room initially anyway. We ended up switching our baby to his crib around five months, and inevitably, every night, he'd end up flipping over onto his belly and burying his face in the mattress. I found myself unable to sleep and instead just watched his vitals on the Owlet to make sure he was still able to breathe. After two nights, I took the plunge and ordered the Newton, and I am so glad I did! You can absolutely breathe right through it with ease, so I feel so much better about having our little guy sleep on his stomach with his face buried in it. I haven't had to clean it yet, but I love the fact that the whole thing is easily washable because it's only a matter of time! He also is sleeping great on it — usually 10–12 hours! Definitely worth it, in my opinion, especially if you have a stomach sleeper!" —Dana

Get it from Amazon for $299.99 (available in two colors).

12. A suction-cup bathtub splash guard and play shelf to create more room and storage space for bath time while keeping any errant splashing in the tub where it belongs.

www.amazon.com

Promising review: "This is a must for every home with toddlers that love to splash. I used to yell and get mad about all the water that was on the ground, but now they can actually play and enjoy bath time. And it suction cups well and stays in place! Worth every penny!" —erika

Get it from Amazon for $59.95 (available in four colors).

13. A Munchkin "Warm Glow" wipe warmer so that baby butts (and parents' hands, come to think of it) never suffer the wintry touch of a damp, chilly wipe ever again. Plus, it has a night light with a 10-minute auto shutoff function.

Amazon

Promising review: "Ordered before my daughter was born, and I went into labor before we had a chance to set it up. It sat in its box for about three months, when finally, I decided to pull it out and see if it was worth it. WELL worth it! The wipes WORK BETTER in this thing. As others have mentioned, the top wipes will dry out a bit if you leave the warmer plugged in all of the time, but I always pour 1/2–3/4 cups of water over the wipes as soon as I refill it, which prevents that issue. The extra moisture really helps. Our baby never protested too much about wipe temperature, but I like how the wipes are so much more effective when warm and moist...especially now that we've started solids. You know what I mean." —Christine V

Get it from Amazon for $29.97.

14. An Oxo Tot grape cutter that quarters most seedless grapes and grape tomatoes for some worry-free (and healthy!) snacking.

www.amazon.com

Promising review: "At first, I remember thinking how silly. It’s a single-use type of item. And $12 for that? I was wrong. Very, very wrong. Go quarter some grapes four times a day. You’ll be back. And it cuts other stuff too. It’s so worth it. I’m about to buy another one to have two. Cherry tomatoes. Grapes. Blueberries. Small cheese. Even for grapes alone, it’s worth it if you have a toddler." —Jerrod

Get it from Amazon for $13.99

15. A Nanit Pro Smart baby monitor and wall mount for next-level, 24/7 information gathering (aka spying) on your child from any location via your smartphone, which will help everyone in your home get a little more sack time.

Amazon

Promising review: "I have so much anxiety surrounding baby sleep, so the peace of mind it gives me is sooo worth it. The sleep tracking and daily insights are also surprisingly helpful — it’s cool to see how their sleep improves over time!! And you can even start to tell if your baby isn’t feeling well by a change in their patterns." —Lisa

Get it from Amazon for $231.99+

16. A Levoit H13 True HEPA filter air purifier so your baby's room will be free of allergens, pet hair, dander, smoke, mold, odor, and large dust particles and will remove up to "99.97% of airborne contaminants."

www.amazon.com

Promising review: "I love this air purifier. I have four of them! I purchased one for the baby's room, then it worked so well that I got three more! I have two kids that need nightlights; this works great. It's bright enough that if they wake up, they will not be afraid, but it's not so bright that it wakes them up. I can turn it on at bath time, and the room is ready for them to sleep in with clean air by the time they get in bed. I turn on the nightlight, the setting to a 1, and in the morning, when they get up, I turn it off. If their room is stuffy, I leave it on all day on 1/low, and it's fresh when they get home. If it is stuffy or the cat has been handed out in a particular room, I turn it on 3/high. The filters last me 3–6 months, depending on the room I have them in. I use them every day, though, so it is worth it." —Neuromancer

Get it from Amazon for $89.99+ (available in two colors).

17. A Skip Hop 3-Stage Interactive Activity Center packed with, well, a ton of activities which will grow with your child (and eventually turn into a play table once they graduate to their next level of toys).

Amazon

We refer to this contraption as "the office" because it not only keeps our little guy busy (there are 25+ developmental activities crammed into this thing), but he looks like a boss as he swivels around in his 360-degree rotating seat. It's sturdy, and boy, does it take a beating (especially that bouncy sheep). The beats from the piano aren't bad, either. So worth it! The best part about the Skip Hop 3-Stage Interactive Activity Center might be its bright but not loud color palette that won't completely clash with the rest of your furniture.

Promising review: "Get it. You’re thinking about it, just buy it. It’s going to be a lifesaver for you, your baby is going to love it, and the money you spent will be so worth it." —Amazon Customer

26. A Diaper Genie that when positioned next to a changing table will be the quickest, most efficient, and least stinky way of disposing of an endless amount of disposable diapers.

www.amazon.com

The Diaper Genie is a very controversial product, especially if you read some of the Amazon reviews. I'm here to tell you that it's been a part of our babies' lives since his first diaper change at home. It's not perfect, but it is close enough. Once that diaper is slam-dunked in there, I only have to change the bag (about once a day). That's the time-saver right there. Yes, you will get hit with the smell when you open it, but just don't get too close. Otherwise, all odors are contained when the lid is closed. Another thing I don't ever have to think about (other than ordering bag refills).

Promising review: "I was super skeptical of this but was recommended to get one by several people. Wow, we use it so much. Babies and especially newborns poop a ton. My baby averages 10 diapers in 24 hours. This makes it so nice to dispose of them without mess or smell. Totally worth it. The brand refills are expensive, so we just used a generic brand, and they work fine." —CLK

It gives me a lot of anxiety because babies move around, and I don't want to accidentally clip him (it happened once with my oldest). I heard about this, and it's so worth it! I got all his toes and fingers done; it didn't matter how much he moved because the 0–3 month attachment didn't hurt his delicate skin. I would totally buy again, and this will be my go-to baby shower gift!" —Kristina
