3 highway patrol cops arrested for extorting foreigner

KUALA LUMPUR: Three highway patrol officers have been arrested for allegedly extorting a foreigner on the North-South Expressway.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when a 50-year-old Middle Eastern man claimed he was stopped by a police vehicle near KM227 on the highway in Negri Sembilan.
It was learnt that the officers initially demanded RM1,000 from the man, who subsequently transferred RM250 to a bank account.
Federal Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri confirmed the arrests.

"The suspects have been taken into custody to facilitate further investigations," he said.
