A man was charged yesterday after a rape incident happened at an exercise corner

According to Channel News Asia, 33-year-old Imran Syafiq Mohamed Rashid was charged in court for allegedly raping a 61-year-old woman.

The man who is already out on bail for other alleged cases allegedly held the woman at knife point and told the woman he will rape her.

The incident alledegelly happened on 13 May 2022 between 5AM to 6AM. Due to a gag order the woman’s name and the location of the incident cannot be revel

The man is also facing at least 21 other charges which include house-breaking, criminal trespass, and voluntarily causing hurt.

Penalties for rape:

If he is charged with an offence of rape under Section 375(1)(a) punishable under Section 375(2) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 20 years and a fine or caning.
