43-YO Revolving Restaurant in Harbourfront Closes Down; 30 Employees Are Now Jobless

You’re probably familiar with Prima Taste, mainly because of their Laksa maggie mee that was voted best maggie mee in the world.
But did you know about the Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant near Harbourfront?
Or the fact that it has been around for 43 years, well-known for its dim sum and panoramic views?
Unfortunately, if you only found out now and you want to give it a shot yourself, you’ve lost your chance.
The restaurant had temporarily closed during the Circuit Breaker period from 7 Apr to 1 June 2020. It was originally scheduled to reopen on 1 Aug 2020.
However, it’s closure went from temporary to permanent.
The closure of the revolving restaurant left 30 employees jobless.
According to CNA, a spokesperson of the restaurant said it was a “difficult decision”.
However, the restaurant was unable to “take the toll of the pandemic” any longer.
Thankfully, while the restaurant isn’t unionised (a member of the unions and thus, allow the respective union to fight for them), the severance pay was calculated according to inputs by the Singapore Hotel Association and the Food, Drinks & Allied Workers Union (FDAWU).
