A 50-year-old Guangzhou Douyin e-commerce entrepreneur, known online as "Sister Xin", has gone viral for not only marrying her son's Russian classmate but also getting pregnant with his kid.

According to reports, Sister Xin, raised her son and daughter on her own after getting divorced at 30.

Her life took a new turn when her son Kaikai invited three of his foreigner classmates over for a Chinese New Year dinner six years ago.

One of his friends was Defu, a Russian student. Though his exact age was not disclosed, Defu is said to speak fluent Mandarin after spending a few years in China.

Defu was impressed by Sister Xin's cooking and hospitality, and asked if he could extend his stay from one night to an entire week.

We guess it was love at first sight?

“I was still young and attractive then. Defu kept in touch with me, sending gifts and surprises over the years," recalled Sister Xin.

She was, however, unsure about the relationship.

Due to their more than 20-year age gap and a 30-cm height difference – Defu is 1.95m-tall – Sister Xin ignored his advances. She also believed that their cultural differences and her failed marriage made them incompatible.

But with her son's encouragement, Sister Xin decided to give herself a second chance at love. Earlier this year, she and Defu registered their marriage.

And look who's about to experience motherhood all over again.

In June, Sister Xin took to Douyin to announce her pregnancy. “Older pregnancies come with risks, but being with Defu makes it worth it," she said.

Their baby is reportedly due between March to May next year, and Sister Xin shared that they've already bought a cot and are looking forward to the baby's arrival.

It's no surprise that an unconventional love story like this has split netizens all over China.

“Sister Xin built her life through hard work and even found love. Truly admirable. I wish her a safe delivery," wrote one supporter. On the other hand, there were those who are doubtful of their relationship: "It feels like a scripted romance made to get attention". Some also asked if she's the same age as his parents.

In response to the negativity, Sister Xin posted a photo of her prenatal check-up report, writing: “Time will prove our love.”
