On September 9, Floren, a young girl from Pampanga, Philippines, celebrated her seventh birthday, but it was also on that very day that her mum passed away from illness. 

"A day meant for joy turned into sorrow, but may her little heart always feel her mother's love from heaven," Floren's aunt shared on TikTok.

The family decided to go ahead to celebrate Floren's birthday, and at the same place her mum's wake was held.

It was a heart-rending, sombre celebration. Dressed in a pink dress with matching pink fairy wings, a wand, and a floral crown, Floren appeared from behind a curtain as her family sang her a birthday song. 

She walked towards the crowd slowly, and approached her father who was holding a cake. The little girl, with a solemn expression on her face, then made a wish before she blew out the single candle. 

Family members tearfully watched on as Floren's dad gave her a kiss on the forehead before hugging her. 

According to Floren's aunt, the girl's mum died at 1am after spending two weeks in the hospital. 

"We decided to still celebrate Floren's birthday on the same day, because her mother would have wanted that. Since it was her seventh birthday, [her father] had even bought her the dress for the occasion," she added. 

In the Philippines, seven is considered a symbolic and lucky number. When a child turns seven, it marks their transition from infancy to childhood. It's a significant milestone for them, marking the start of their independence, and a gathering is often held so they can celebrate the special occasion with family and friends. 

The emotional post tugged at the heartstrings of netizens, with many sending Floren their love and well wishes.
