IT was just a matter of time when serious adjustments had to be made to pay for the ever rising subsidy bill from higher fuel costs resulting from the Iran war.

A savings plan of RM10bil was hatched from recalibrating budgetary expenses. Cuts to non-essential health spending and other big-ticket budget items like the Higher Education Ministry were repurposed to pay for the higher subsidies.
