A woman in China could not understand why she had been experiencing discomfort and pain in her buttock for a month.

Then, she found that a thin, 4cm-long needle had penetrated her flesh.

The bizarre incident was shared by a netizen from Zhejiang province in an online post on Sunday (Oct 11), reported media outlet Xiaoxiang Morning Herald.

Xiaoyu (pseudonym), told a reporter that she first felt slight pain in her left buttock in September. Believing she had strained a muscle from exercising, she shrugged it off.

However, the pain intensified over the following weeks.

"(The left side of my body) hurt from head to toe, like when a fingernail is torn off," she said of the pain.

Xiaoyu finally located the cause when taking a shower on Oct 11, when she pressed on the painful area and felt a hard object under her skin.

She said it did not hurt when she pulled out the needle, and her bodily pain instantly disappeared.

A video shared with the publication shows her holding the blackened needle in her palm.

Xiaoyu added that she is uncertain how the needle became embedded in her body.
