LOS ANGELES, Feb 15 — For Oscar winner Juliette Binoche, the head of last year’s jury at the Cannes film festival, it’s not hard to understand why the movies that succeeded on the Croisette go on to win accolades in Hollywood.

And it isn’t because of reforms made to make the voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences more diverse.
