20 Aug- Alex Fong recently won three gold medals at the World Aquatics Championships 2025 in Singapore, and shared for the first time ever, a photo of him with wife Maple Yip.

On 19 August, the singer-actor and former Olympic swimmer shared about his experience competing in the championship, revealing that he and his wife actually had planned to return to Hong Kong on 8 August for a performance in Guangxi.

However, it all changed when he was ranked second for the 200m backstroke and first in the 400m individual, the latter in which he was placed fourth last year.

"Because of being ranked first in the 400m individual medley, my wife decided to change her plane ticket and stay in Singapore alone to wait for me, hoping I'd catch the flight to support my bid for gold in person," he said.

Alex is happy to have his family showing support at the championship

After taking a flight to Guangxi for the performance and then catching his flight back to Singapore, Alex said that he went straight to the competition.

"The third hurdle was my physical condition: I only managed two hours of sleep on the plane, my immunity was low and I had caught a cold, which of course affected my confidence. But since everything had aligned so smoothly, I could only trust fate and do my best. Encouraged by my wife and teammates, I swam my signature event, the 400m individual medley, this time completing it 7 seconds faster than at last year's World Championships in Doha, and earned my second gold of this meet."

He also won gold for the 200m individual medley and the 200m backstroke.

In the said photo which he shared on social media, a beaming Maple is wearing a grey sweatshirt and jeans, barely hiding her baby bump.

Alex excitedly said, "It's so perfect that my parents, brother, wife, and daughter who is due this year are all here to witness me receiving this gold medal."
