Fragrance is such an incredibly personal experience. You already have your favorites and they've imprinted on you in a way that indelibly links them to memories. And when you open your nose and heart to a new perfume or candle, you go into the process knowing what you like and, understandably, seeking that out. Our editors went into the Best of Beauty fragrance testing process with their own biases—we're only human—but if there's anything the 2024 winners have taught us, it's to expect the unexpected.

Gourmand lovers fell hard for our floral winner; solar fans found themselves enamored of the prevailing fruity fragrance; the winning musk entranced earthy devotees; herbaceous enthusiasts found themselves fawning over the top citrus scent. In other words: This year's winners are so undeniably fantastic that they have the power to open even the most scent-closed minds.

A humble suggestion: When you browse through this year's winners, don't just scroll right to the type of fragrance you think you'd like most. Take them all in—all the eau de parfums and home scents and laundry detergents—and give a chance to something you might not normally choose for yourself. You can be confident knowing these wouldn't have won a Best of Beauty Award if they weren't capable of winning over even the pickiest noses.
