> The ASP, an international programme funded by the Amgen Foundation, provides hundreds of selected undergraduates with the opportunity to engage in a hands-on research experience at many of the world’s leading educational institutions.

> It seeks to increase learning and networking opportunities for students committed to pursuing science or engineering careers and to spark the interest and broaden the perspective of students considering scientific careers.

> Through the eight-to-10-week programme, which starts in June next year, outstanding undergraduates from across the globe can undertake research projects under the instruction of world-class faculty, get involved in cutting-edge seminars and networking events, and take part in a symposium as representatives in their respective regions.

> In Asia, Amgen scholars are hosted at four premier educational institutions, namely, Tsinghua University, National University of Singapore, University of Tokyo and Kyoto University.

> Each host institution has its own application process.

> Applicants must be undergraduates who:

- Are enrolled in colleges or universities in Asia that award a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent).

- Completed their first year of undergraduate study at the time the summer programme begins.

- Are not graduating before the summer programme begins, and after the summer programme ends will resume undergraduate studies for at least one semester or one quarter.

- Have a strong record of academic performance, and a good working knowledge of English – minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 72; IELTS overall band score of 5.5; Cambridge English FCE; TOEIC score of 1095; TOEIC L&R score of 785; or TOEIC S&W score of 310; if English is not their first language or they are not native English speakers.

- Interested in pursuing a PhD.
