Ampang Man’s Death Reclassified as Murder After Post-Mortem Reveals Foul Play, Father-Son Duo Arrested
A father and son have been arrested for allegedly being involved in the murder of a man in Taman Pandan Perdana.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail, said the case came to light after police received information about the victim’s death from Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
Post-mortem revealed signs of foul play
In a statement, Azam revealed that the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) received a call on June 22 from a medical assistant reporting a man’s death at the scene.
Initial investigations were conducted, and the case was initially classified as a sudden death report (SDR). However, a post-mortem carried out the next day at the Ampang Hospital Forensics Unit revealed signs of foul play.
“The post-mortem, conducted on June 23 at around 3 PM, confirmed that the cause of death involved criminal elements,” he said.
Following this discovery, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division (D9) of IPD Ampang Jaya arrested two local men in a series of raids carried out between June 26 and June 28.
The motive is believed to be related to debt
Azam said police also seized a bamboo cane and an adjustable plier during the raid, both believed to have been used in the incident.
“Both suspects are father and son. The first suspect is 36 years old and self-employed, while the second suspect is 73 years old and unemployed.”
He added that both suspects tested negative for drugs, and background checks revealed they had no prior criminal records.
“The remand application for the first suspect was approved for 14 days, while the second suspect was remanded for 13 days. Initial investigations suggest that the motive behind the incident is believed to be debt-related,” he said.
The case has been reclassified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Regardless of the reason for their alterations, nothing justified such aggressive behaviour by the father-son duo. At the end of the day, violence will not solve anything and will only make things worse.
