Chinese fintech major Ant Group announced that four mobile wallets supported by Alipay+, the firm’s cross-border payments solution, are now accepted in Thailand.

These include AlipayHK (Hong Kong), Kakao Pay (South Korea), Touch ‘n Go eWallet (Malaysia), as well as Alipay (mainland China), which has been available for Thai merchants since 2015.

Thai Airways, the country’s flag carrier, is one of the first airlines to use Alipay+ as a payment method, Ant Group said in a statement.

By adding support for the e-wallets, Ant Group aims to help more Asian tourists have a smooth travel experience in Thailand, as it’s a popular travel destination. Statista reported that Thailand had about 11.15 million international tourist arrivals in 2022, a jump from the two previous Covid-19 pandemic-ridden years.

The tech giant also announced a new collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to support the Amazing Thailand tourism campaign. Through this partnership, the firm will offer digital solutions to local businesses in areas such as digitalization, marketing efficiency, and customer experience.
