Anwar: PNB should prioritise national and Bumiputera interests in decision-making
KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) should place national Bumiputera interests as the primary consideration in making any decisions, including its review of investment in Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the review process should not proceed if it undermines the long-term benefits of unit holders or has a negative impact on PNB's efforts to contribute to the people's wellbeing and the nation's development.
"I emphasise that, as an institution entrusted with safeguarding national and Bumiputera interests, PNB must maintain its role and holdings in the nation's strategic assets.
"Therefore, I ask PNB to place national and Bumiputera interests as the primary consideration in making any decisions.

Earlier today, Utusan Malaysia reported that PNB is conducting a strategic review of its investment in the Prolintas Group as part of its regular portfolio evaluation process.
PNB said the initiative aims to identify opportunities to enhance long-term value for the benefit of its unit holders.
"This review covers several strategic options, including retaining ownership of the assets or bringing in a strategic partner.
"As part of this strategic review, PNB confirms that discussions are ongoing with several parties, but the process is still at an early stage and no decision has been made on the matter," it said as quoted by the Malay daily.
PNB stressed that all investment decisions are made through a rigorous governance process, in line with its mandate and long-term investment objectives.
Recently, PNB was reported to have issued a tender to sell its entire highway portfolio, which has been developed over the past decades.
Public-listed IJM Corporation Berhad has confirmed its participation in the tender process.
