Anwar visits full rehearsal for National Day parade
PUTRAJAYA: The full rehearsal for the 2025 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya this morning was enlivened by a surprise visit from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who came to personally observe the final preparations for the historic event.
Anwar arrived at approximately 8.30am and took time to greet members of the public who had gathered to watch the rehearsal.
He also viewed the human graphic performance segment, which is expected to be one of the main highlights of this year's celebration.
The prime minister was given a brief on the overall preparations for the event, scheduled to take place this Sunday.

He was accompanied by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who arrived earlier at 7.30am to oversee the smooth running of the rehearsal at the main stage, including traffic control and participation from various government agencies and schools.
With the theme "Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni", this year's celebration is expected to be livelier, with over 14,000 participants, 78 vehicle assets, seven decorated floats, and cultural performances, along with a 14-gun salute during the national anthem Negaraku.
In addition to the parade, several engaging programmes are planned to ignite patriotic spirit among attendees throughout the National Day celebration, including a segment called Riuh Merdeka.
Riuh Merdeka will feature 20 performances, including appearances by popular artistes and open-air film screenings.
It will be held at the parking lot of the Millennium Monument in Precinct 2, beginning at noon on Aug 30 and running until the next day.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy a screening of local films through the Open-Air Film Screening@Riuh Merdeka programme from 2am to 6am on Aug 31.
Additionally, there will be 50 food and beverage vendors, 30 local brand vendors, and creative workshops set up to offer a unique experience for visitors.
