Apple’s first custom modem chip debuts in iPhone 16e

Apple has announced its first in-house modem chip, a step intended to reduce reliance on Qualcomm’s modem technology.
This chip, part of the new C1 subsystem, will be included in the company’s US$599 iPhone 16e, launched on Feb. 20.
The C1 subsystem includes essential components such as processors and memory.
Apple aims to integrate the modem chip across its product line in the coming years; however, specific timelines have not been disclosed.
