More information about the Mac Pro and its potential SoCs has surfaced online, following @LeaksApplePro's roadmap that we discussed yesterday. Reputedly, Apple will release the next Mac Pro later this year, potentially at WWDC 2022 in June. However, @LeaksApplePro claims that Apple will not be ready to ship the machine until Q3 2022, so at least a month later than WWDC 2022.@LeaksApplePro also mentioned that the Mac Pro would ship with two or even four M1 Ultra SoCs. According to Majin Bu, Apple has codenamed the former 'Redfern'; he does not mention the possibility of a quad-M1 Ultra. Additionally, Majin Bu states that Redfern utilises a bridge codenamed 'DAISYXL', building on 'DAISY1' and 'DAISY2', which Apple markets as its UltraFusion architecture.Separately, Mark Gurman has reiterated that Apple has been developing a dual M1 Ultra, coined the 'Extreme' when Gurman was discussing the upcoming M2 series. Reportedly, the unnamed SoC would scale to 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores, although there could be a lower-powered option with 96 GPU cores. Presumably, combining two M1 Ultra SoCs would allow Apple to offer the Mac Pro with 256 GB of unified memory (RAM). In comparison, the M1 Ultra restricts the Mac Studio to 128 GB of unified memory.Majin Bu adds that Apple will release the Mac Pro with Redfern in September, not this summer.
