Apple is cutting more than 200 jobs across Siri, Vision Pro, and software teams as it shifts resources to new devices and AI, including a new Siri architecture and changes to Vision Pro content and gaming work.

About 100 positions are being eliminated in the Vision Pro organization and another 100 across Siri and the Intelligent Systems Experience team, a software engineering group that handles some AI features on Apple devices.

Apple is also largely shutting down its Vision Pro gaming team and reducing its immersive video unit.

The move comes as Vision Pro has struggled to gain traction. IDC estimated Apple shipped only 45,000 headsets in the last quarter.

On the AI side, Apple introduced Siri AI as part of Apple Intelligence, using on-device and cloud-based models.

Apple said it is realigning teams and will create some new roles. The cuts are notable because layoffs have been relatively rare at the company.
