Are they going to earn more? Salaries of political office holders to be reviewed!
Asia One·2026-01-12 21:14
The salary structure and benchmark of political office holders will be reviewed by an 8-member independent committee, said Coordinating Minister for Public Services Chan Chun Sing.
In a written reply to a parliamentary question by MP Alex Yam (Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC) on Monday (Jan 12), Chan said the committee has just been formed and has been asked to recommend the appropriate wage levels of political office holders based on the current salary framework.

Looks like politics here in Singapore is all about money. The more they get, the more they want...and it's not really looking after the citizens or their welfare first. When it comes to salary of 20k a month, they'll say it's not enough to survive but the minute you say that's already so much then comes the defences of comparing with private sector...but then again I thought they join politics for the love of the country and to serve the people..very confusing....I am still trying 2 comprehend.

Precisely. It's ok for them to ask for so much salary but expect their citizens to live with only $800/mth of assistance in this high cost of living. Talk bout transparency, frankly it's daylight robbery that's covered by alot of redtapes. Take our CPF alone, why do they need to control our hard earned money in a retirement fund? It's our retirement money. Don't we deserve to taste our own hard earned money after slogging for 30 over yrs?? 🤢😵💫

Not only your OA but your MA is controlled tightly to prevent you from "overspent". They had classified into different categories of how much you should spend in your MA, e.g. Scanning, Flexi Claims, etc. But if you really need to spend money for your medical issues, then let the account holder spend it. Why must the CPF Board tighten the account holder's wallet? After all, these charges are asked by the hospital or service provider. CPF makes sure you have to use your cash to save your own life

All their current pay structure is more than adequate to mske them live in bungalow and yet greedy for more. This will also benefit the 2 who last step down but still has position in the cabinet. Wasting our resources
