Arnold bows out in Qatar Classic quarter-finals to Hutton

PETALING JAYA: National squash player Rachel Arnold’s run at the Qatar Classic ended in the quarter-finals after she fell to England’s Jasmine Hutton on Wednesday (Sept 16).
World No. 25 Rachel gave world No. 12 Hutton a strong fight but went down fighting but lost 11-9, 11-6, 7-11, 11-4 in 36 minutes at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.
It was Rachel’s first defeat to Hutton in three previous meetings, with the Malaysian winning their previous encounter at the Optasia Championship in London in March.
Rachel had made her first Platinum-level quarter-finals after stunning world No. 3 and eight-time world champion Nour El Sherbini in the second round.
With Rachel’s exit, world No. 5 Sivasangari Subramaniam is the only remaining Malaysian in the tournament as she takes on world No. 1 Hania El Hammamy of Egypt in the semi-final on Thursday (Sept 17).
