Asean Political-Security Blueprint nears full implementation

KUALA LUMPUR: The Asean Political-Security Community (APSC) Blueprint 2025 has reached a 99.6 per cent implementation rate, reflecting the region's strong commitment to cohesion and security cooperation.

This was among matters reviewed during the 29th APSC Council Meeting chaired by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

"The blueprint continues to serve as a vital framework for strengthening Asean's political-security architecture, promoting greater cohesion and building strategic trust across the region.

"The minister also reviewed ongoing efforts related to the implementation of the APSC Blueprint 2025 and discussed preparations for its End-Term Review.

"The review is expected to inform Asean's strategic direction as the region transitions into a new phase of cooperation under the Asean Community Vision 2045," said APSC in a statement after the meeting concluded.

The council also said Asean foreign ministers and Timor-Leste, during the meeting, had exchanged views in the Sectoral Bodies under the APSC Pillar.

It also said looking ahead, Asean remains committed to advancing the Asean Community Vision 2045 and finalising the next APSC Strategic Plan, which will chart a pragmatic and forward-looking path for Asean's role in both regional and global affairs.

Earlier, Mohamad said the Strategic Plan 2045 would serve as a vital compass for Asean's political-security cooperation over the next two decades, anchored in peace, resilience and people-centred growth.
