Australia dodges US tariffs, but faces economic risks

Australia has avoided the steep “reciprocal tariffs” imposed by the US under President Donald Trump’s trade measures.
While Australia faces a general 10% tariff, it is exempt from higher tariffs placed on countries like China, Japan, and South Korea.
However, Australian beef farmers may face significant challenges due to new trade barriers, though exports like gold and pharmaceuticals are exempted.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese criticized the tariffs as “totally unwarranted” but acknowledged Australia fared better than other nations.
