Avril Lavigne is re-entering this hair era, and fans couldn’t be more excited.

Earlier this month, Lavigne shared a series of stunning, colorful photos of her green hair. She shared the photos with the caption reading, “Headlining @vanswarpedtour tonight! See you there 💚🖤☠️🖤💚 📸 @skylerbarberio.”

As you can see in the photos, Lavigne looks gorgeous as she shows off her neon green hair, which is colored both at the ends and in the middle. We see her twirling and posing, showing off her new ‘do.

And this look instantly got fans nostalgic for her Smile-era, which is a song from her Goodbye Lullaby album in 2011. While she rocked her black highlights throughout that era, she went green for Smile.

Not only did fans respond with GIFs from the music video, but fans even commented, saying, “Seeing your hair dyed green, the mind automatically remembered the song Smile, those who understand will understand.”

Now, she first re-dyed her hair green back in April 2025, which she showed on Instagram with the caption reading, “Two generations of rebellion. One track. Our new song 77 is out now! 🤘”

However, since then, she let it go to a more yellow-green, then added some pink on the ends, and her most recent post shows she went back to the Smile-era green hair we all love!

We’ve seen Lavigne try so many hair colors, from bleach blonde to pink, from black to cheetah print.

In a previous interview with ELLE Canada, she said, “My hair has been a marker of my evolution.”
