During a recent appearance on the IMO podcast hosted by his wife, Michelle Obama, and her brother Craig Robinson, Barack shared his seemingly unwavering feelings towards a very popular condiment: ketchup, and why he thinks only a certain group of people should eat it.

"In my opinion, and this is controversial in my family, but you should not eat ketchup after the age of eight," Barack said sternly. While his comment was met with laughs, Barack didn't budge.

This wasn't Michelle's first time hearing this, though. In fact, after being married for 32 years, she's noticed the age restraints keep getting lower and lower every time Barack shares his opinion on it. Last time, she recalled he capped the ketchup age at 10. Michelle went on to state that she and Craig do not agree with his statement.

"I have nothing against kids having ketchup on their burgers or ketchup for their fries, even — which is hard for me to watch — ketchup on hot dogs, but at a certain point, you kind gotta outgrow it," Barack added.

"I might be a little bit draconian in my attitude," Barack said. "I'm trying to describe a general point of view, which is, ketchup has its place." To which Craig responded, "It sounds like you're saying ketchup is childish." "When I see a grown person pouring a lot of ketchup on something — I told you this was controversial in my family," Barack reiterated.

Despite his firm stance, Michelle revealed no one in his family has followed his lead. There's always ketchup in their house, and everyone uses it, except him.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't always gravitate towards ketchup either. When it comes to my fries, salt is really the only thing I want on top of them. If I had to dip it in something, it'd be sweet and sour sauce. I don't need it on my burgers...as long as they have cheese, I'm good. And when it comes to hot dogs, I'm really a mustard girl.
