KUCHING (July 18): A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a roadside ditch at KM9 Jalan Kampung Opar in Bau last night.

Bau District Police Chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer said the incident was reported around 9.20pm.

“It is believed that the motorcyclist, who was heading from Kampung Opar heading towards Bau, lost control and crashed into a ditch after he went through a tight bend.

“He was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics,” he said in a statement.

Paramedics at the scene confirmed the victim died on impact.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Daram urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the nearest police station.

He also reminded all road users to remain cautious, especially during unpredictable weather, and to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before travelling.
