Cambodia is attempting to establish new benchmarks in tourism by attracting over 7.5 million tourists by the end of this year. The Southeast Asian nation is turning its focus to sustainable development, market expansion, direct flight connectivity, and support for small businesses.

Renowned for its impressive historical sites and stunning natural beauty the underrated country welcomed 6.7 million foreign visitors in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 23% contributing about 9.4% to the country's gross domestic product. The top five arrival markets last year were Thailand, Vietnam, China, Laos, and the United States. Last month Tourism Minister Huot Hak said: “For 2025, we hope the number of international tourists to Cambodia will increase to between 7.2 million and 7.5 million."
