Prone as I am to a multitude of emotions, shame remains a sentiment I'm not entirely familiar with. Call it an inflated sense of ego, or perhaps a thick skin gleaned from the yearsgrowing up under my mother's critical eye (ha) — but either way, it doesn't pain me to admit that I am ridiculously, absolutely, and unquestionably vain. I suppose if you were being generous, you'd say it has to do with my job. In truth, well, it probably has more to do with my ballooned sense of self-worth. And so, comes the need to look good in every circumstance, from sweating it out at the gym to chowing down on fried chicken with my grease-stained digits. Makeup and a consistent skincare routine have a large part to play in this lofty pursuit, assisted (of course) by technological advancements. Translation: face filters.
