KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has detected two fake Facebook accounts mimicking the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC).

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said administrators of both accounts had illegally obtained personal information of the public and even obtained money from victims.

"I stress again, both accounts are fakes.

"The NSRC has no social media accounts, including Facebook," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 3).

Conn Rusdi reminded the public that the NSRC is an anti-scam call centre that only receives calls from the public.

"NSRC personnel will not contact anyone, even via WhatsApp.

"If you receive such calls or messages, they are from scammers," he added.

Conn Rusdi urge scam victims to contact the NSRC 997 hotline less than 24 hours after being scammed.

"By doing that, there is a higher chance of freezing accounts and blocking transfers," he said.
