Blackpink Fans Outraged That Their $123 Seats At Korea Concert Had No View Of Stage
Massively popular K-pop girl group Blackpink wrapped up two successful nights of concerts at the Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium on July 5 and 6. However, the shows, which were meant to kick-off their highly anticipated Deadline world tour, have been hit with controversy.
Fans who bought seats at the N3 section of the stadium have come out to complain about their “zero-visibility” spots. Pictures they posted show that their view of the stage, and Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, were completely obstructed by a giant LED screen.
Each N3 ticket costs 132,000 won (S$123), and came with a vague message that said views might possibly be obstructed “due to equipment”. It was not specified that the view would be completely obstructed for the entirety of the two-hour show.
An angry fan ranted: “There’s nothing about the concert we can review as you absolutely can’t see a thing. They stated that [our] view might be restricted because of set-ups, but there’s zero view. The seats were not released on restricted view, but under general ticketing, and I’m very mad about that.”
Another wrote: “I might as well stay home and watch the wall at this point.”
Others have also called for refunds.
Following the intense backlash, the group’s agency, YG Entertainment, released an official statement apologising for the oversight.
They explained they had put up the LED screen to show what was happening on stage as the console in front of the N3 section was already blocking the view.
They also said “follow-up measures” for those who had their experiences affected are being planned.
The quartet will be heading to the United States, Europe, and other parts of Asia before arriving in Singapore for their third world tour on November 29 and 30. Here’s hoping that no one will be able to relate to the “zero-visibility” experience.
