Book lovers around the Klang Valley have something new to get excited about: Books Kinokuniya Malaysia is opening a second outlet at Pavilion Damansara Heights in Kuala Lumpur.

The popular bookstore – which has had its flagship at Suria KLCC since 2001 – recently teased on social media that the new branch will be opening its doors to readers soon.

A recent visit to the new bookshop site revealed that renovation works are expected to be completed by July 31, with the premises spanning two adjoining lots (on level 4) in a new wing of Pavilion Damansara Heights.

“Since readership in Malaysia has grown so much in recent years, specifically in Klang Valley, we feel it’s time for us to open another outlet to reach more of our loyal customers and hopefully new ones, too. Our focus will be on building a bookshop that can serve the needs of the community," says Koicihiro Satomi, Books Kinokuniya Malaysia managing director.

“With easy access to Pavilion Damansara Heights through public transportation, we feel this is the right location for us," he adds.

The mall is accessible via an elevated walkway from the Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT station. With everything in place, the new bookshop is expected to open its doors shortly after the renovation work.

"It will be open soon, not too far along now, and we will make the announcement closer to the date. Just stay tune to our social media platforms," says Koicihiro.

Though smaller in size, the new bookshop still plans to host events, author meet-and-greets, and more.

Home to over 300,000 titles in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Bahasa Malaysia, Books Kinokuniya’s flagship store at Suria KLCC will mark its 25th anniversary next year. Additionally, there’s a stationery and gift counter at Seibu Department Store in The Exchange, TRX Mall in KL.
