Broadway Star Sutton Foster Files for Divorce From Husband Ted Griffin After 10 Years

Sutton Foster's marriage to screenwriter Ted Griffin has taken its final bow.

The Broadway star filed to divorce her husband of 10 years—with whom she shares 7-year-old daughter Emily—on Oct. 22, according to court records reviewed by E! News.

This will be the second divorce for the Once Upon a Mattress star, who was previously married to Smash actor Christian Borle from 2006 to 2009.

Sutton initially met Ted on a blind date. They got engaged in 2013, before tying the knot in a private California ceremony the following year—with the bride walking down the aisle in wedding gown she picked out on an episode of TLC's Say Yes to the Dress.

In 2017, the couple adopted their daughter Emily after years of fertility struggles. As Sutton put it, being with Ted “made me want kids."

"He belonged in my family," she told People in 2018. "I didn’t really understand the concept of motherhood until he came around."

And after facing a "hard" IVF journey, Sutton realized adoption was "so clearly what was meant to be for us."

"Now I realize Emily was so clearly meant to be our daughter," the Younger alum shared. "It doesn’t matter where she came from, my belly or someone else’s belly. When she was born, I was like, 'What took me so long?'"

Through the years, Sutton has also kept in touch with Emily's biological mom, calling her "a beautiful addition to my life."

"It's been an unbelievably beautiful experience," she told People in 2022. "You go into life and you think, 'How am I going to have a family?' Not only do I have a daughter, but I have a whole other family that is part of her story."
