Brooke Shields is in celebration mode!

On May 31, the Hollywood icon celebrated her milestone 60th birthday in style.

On Instagram, she shared a glimpse of her festivities. In two photos (see them here!), the Blue Lagoon star is seen rocking a black bikini and a straw hat while lounging in a mesh hammock on the beach.

“Woke up today in paradise… and in a new decade of life!” Shields, who released her bestselling memoir Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old earlier this year, wrote in the caption. “This is 6️⃣0️⃣! Thank you for all of the birthday love 🩵☀️🎈🏝️.”

In the comment section, fans and friends are sending birthday wishes. “🎉Happy Birthday Beauty‼️🎉60 looks GREAT on you ‼️🎉,” wrote model Christie Brinkley. “So grateful we met in this life ❤️,” wrote fellow model Helena Christensen. “Love you and have a beautiful birthday in our happy place 🩵💚.”

Back in January, Shields, who shares two beautiful daughters, Rowan and Grier, with her longtime husband Chris Henchy, spoke of her birthday bash in Flow Space‘s fireside chat.

“For my 60th birthday year, I’m going to do something special with groups of my friends,” she said, noting that she plans to celebrate the whole year, rather than just one day. “I’m going to try to take experiences that I really want to have and spend the time and money on them, and just celebrate this big year.”

To Shields, who has opened up in the past few years about the struggles and judgments she’s faced in the industry, getting older is a privilege more than anything else.

“I feel better now than I did in my 20s,” she admitted. “There’s so much more that I’m looking forward to, and I wanted to know that that was the way.”

“There is a certain power that we do come into, and it’s sort of unprecedented,” she said about the midlife transition. “We’re so used to biological and societal and all these things, and it’s amazing. And all of a sudden, your kids are gone, and you have to re-meet your partner. You have to re-establish who you are in yourself, and it’s a period of assessment.”

From the looks of it, Shields is not only embracing this new phase of her life, but she’s thriving too. We’re wishing her all the birthday wishes!
