Over the years, people from all over have gone to the internet to call out celebrities who have been incredible to work with, and others who, well, not so much. Among the stories, of course, are celebrities who are such good tippers that servers will be hoping to see them again and again.

In a new interview for Variety‘s Actors on Actors, Kristen Bell got candid about why her husband Dax Shepard is surely on the “good tipper” list.

The convo started when Severance star Adam Scott remembered the first time his 16-year-old daughter Frankie babysat for Bell and Shepard’s daughters, Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9. “You guys got back from going to dinner or whatever and Dax was like, ‘Frankie, thanks so much,’ and he just pulled out [his wallet] and gave her some money,” Scott said. “And she got home and she was like ‘Oh my God!'”

“Dax is such a nice, generous person and I don’t think she had ever seen that much money before,” he joked.

The Nobody Wants This star, who has been married to Shepard since 2013, was thrilled to hear it. “That makes me very happy,” she said. “He does that to flirt with me; he tips people really big.”

Bell then explained why it’s been an important tradition for him. “When he was coming up and spent some time socially with Bruce Willis and he said that he saw Bruce tipping 100 dollars to everyone, a driver, a valet, anyone,” Bell said of the Die Hard star, who has been battling frontotemporal dementia. “And he thought that it is so cool that someone who had a very, very lucky life is just handing out little presents to everyone and he wanted to be that way.”

“It’s one of his favorite things to do and one of my favorite things about him,” Bell gushed. As she revealed, sometimes their daughters will get involved too. According to Bell, sometimes they add an extra zero to a cheque that Shepard leaves at a restaurant. It’s all about giving back, right?

But while the tradition is inspiring for the Bell-Shepard family, Scott isn’t exactly joining the trend. “I think that’s a good way to be and it’s why I’ve decided that because they are people like Dax in the world, I don’t have to tip at all,” he joked. So while Scott isn’t just yet, Shepard is certainly paying it forward!
