Bukayo Saka believes Arsenal are capable of challenging for trophies this season, if they can keep up the level of performance they produced in the north London derby on Sunday.

The Gunners were thoroughly impressive as they beat Tottenham 3-1 at the Emirates, although a woeful first half performance from Spurs helped them on their way to the three points.

Saka scored the third goal after Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had both netted in a superb opening half for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The second period was a quieter affair, but Arsenal saw out the win and picked up their third straight victory in the Premier League.

After a trio of defeats to start the season, morale is high again among the Arsenal squad and fanbase, and Saka believes there could even be silverware to be won this season, if they can keep these standards up.

‘We can achieve anything, no matter what age,’ said the England international after the win at the weekend. ‘With age comes experience, but we have a lot of experience in this squad anyway, which helps us.

‘If we play like that all the time, we have a strong chance of doing well this season and winning some trophies. This is one game, we have to do it again the next week and the next week.

‘I can’t really describe how good it feels [to get the win]. Starting with the atmosphere in the stadium — it was crazy!’

Arsenal legend picked out the performances of Saka and Smith Rowe in the win, saying they stood out and showed the ‘DNA’ of the club.

‘Bukayo Saka and Smith Rowe,’ Henry told Sky Sports of his highlights from the Emirates on Sunday. ‘I think the team played really well and especially in the first half.

‘For me, those two having a goal and assist. Arsenal played that game like a derby as they should, I don’t think Tottenham did, especially in the first half, but what a day.

‘You want to see that more often, but for me the two kids, especially for the academy and what it represents.

‘It is contagious, we need that at Arsenal, we need these types of performances and that is why Mikel [Arteta] went for guys that have that DNA in them, because they know what it is to compete and win.’
