KUALA LUMPUR: The local Exchange saw continued momentum with stronger trading activity, continued fundraising and encouraging investor participation over the first nine months of 2026, said Datuk Fad'l Mohamed, CEO of Bursa Malaysia Bhd

.

Over the period, there was healthy participation in the stock exchange with 47 initial public offerings (IPO). There was also a 27.6% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in securities market average daily trading value (ADV) to RM3.2bil and 19.3% y-o-y growth in derivatives market average daily contracts (ADC) to 113,120.

However, Fad'l noted that while Malaysia's domestic fundamentals remain supportive of capital raising and investment activity, geopolitical uncertainty and tighter global financial conditions mean investors are becoming more discerning about where they allocate capital.

"Against this backdrop, our focus remains on driving market vibrancy and participation, while investing in the resilience and reliability of our market infrastructure," he said.

in its latest results announcement, Bursa Malaysia posted a net profit of RM70.21mil for the quarter ended Sept 30, 2026, an increase from RM63.85mil in the year-ago quarter. This came on the back of growing revenue of RM216.42mil against RM179.9mil in the previous-year quarter.

Over the cumulative nine-month period, the Exchange's net profit rose to RM214.81mil from RM189.33mil, while revenue climbed to RM641.46mil from RM536.86mil in the year-ago period.

The Exchange reported higher operating expenses of 23.4% to RM349mil, as it continued its investment in talent and technology, as well as regulatory fees.

Over the Jan-Sept period, the Islamic market, Bursa Suq Al-Sila' (BSAS) recorded an ADV of RM48.5bil. Bursa Gold Dinar maintained its growth momentum, with the value of gold transacted increasing 124.2% y-o-y to RM234.5mil.

Non-trading revenue, which accounted for approximately 37% of total operating revenue, increased 19.3% y-o-y to RM229.4mil, contributed in part by higher listing and issuer services revenue, which rose 64.1% y-o-y.
