KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a 45-year-old businessman for allegedly raping his daughter countless times at their home here since early this year. Ampang Jaya police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the rape came to light after police detained the victim at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan on Nov 1. “The teenager was detained for attempting to leave the city, which is currently under the conditional movement control order, without a travel permit. “Upon questioning, we learnt that the victim was attempting to escape to her mother’s home in Kedah,” he said yesterday. ACP Mohamad Farouk said the victim was allegedly raped by the father every week since February. “Due to the father’s vile behaviour, the victim had tried to commit suicide by drinking liquid detergent in June. “She is suffering from depression and is traumatised by the incident,” he said, adding the girl was the businessman’s child from a previous marriage. ACP Mohamad Farouk said she had been in the man’s custody since September last year. He said the man had a criminal record for rape and incest. The man was arrested on Monday at his home and has since been remanded for investigations under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest. — Bernama
