ByteDance’s Seed AI research unit has formed an Alignment & Preparedness team and launched a global hiring drive for 10 researchers to work on safety for advanced AI models.
Seed is ByteDance’s research unit focused on large AI models. It said the new team will study safety training across model development, vulnerability testing, tools to monitor and explain model behavior, AI agent testing environments, and ways to prepare for emerging risks.
Seed also said it will seek independent testing and work with universities and research institutions.
The hiring push comes as Washington and Beijing discuss AI safety. It also follows China’s rules for AI agents, issued amid broader scrutiny of systems that can access the internet and act with greater autonomy.
