While most folks would make a beeline for the coffee shop or the nearby provision shop for daily essentials, some TikTokers are finding out that they can use their Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers for interesting purchases, while still supporting small local businesses in their ’hood.

What are CDC vouchers and where can you spend them?  The new set of CDC vouchers has just been issued to Singapore households this month. Each household will receive $500 worth of CDC vouchers that can be redeemed from May 13, 2025 — these vouchers, along with the earlier tranche issued in January, will expire Dec 31, 2025. 

The $500 worth of CDC vouchers will be split into two categories — $250 can be used in supermarkets, while $250 can be used at heartland merchants such as hawker stalls and shops.More info

iPhone 15 Pro Max  TikToker Joy (@theshbang)could not find the iPhone model she wanted at the Apple store, but came across the iPhone 15 Pro Max that she wanted at a neighbourhood mobile shop which incidentally accepts CDC vouchers. She revealed that she’d bought the brand new phone from a Mister Mobile outlet in Yishun and used the vouchers to offset the purchase price. However, not all its outlets will accept CDC vouchers, but those in heartland locations like Woodlands and Jurong do. Looking for the iPhone 15 range? The Apple store only carries the iPhone 16 range at the moment, but the iPhone 15 is still available at official resellers here.

Pokemon card packs Heading to the supermarket to make use of the supermarket CDC vouchers? Some Pokemon fans, like TikToker @pokeromzz, are picking up Pokemon cards during their grocery run too (eagle-eyed commenters identified the location as Jurong Point Fairprice).

TikToker @imjoonah purchased the cards from another Fairprice outlet (“usually found at Fairprice Xtra,” he mentioned). However, after he realised that the cards weren’t the ones he wanted, he captioned: “Highly wouldn’t recommend it because the vouchers can be put to better use”.

Contact lenses  Don’t overlook heartland optical shops, even if you’re not in the market for a new pair of spectacles. CDC vouchers can be used to offset purchases of contact lenses too, as financial planning content creator Jiabao (@gejiabao) did with last year’s set of CDC vouchers. She made her purchase at Pearl’s Visioncare in Tampines, which is still a participating merchant this year. Check this website for an optical shop in your area.

Teeth whitening You may also use CDC vouchers at dental clinics located in the heartlands. Besides usual dental procedures like scaling and polishing, if your dental clinic has teeth whitening treatments, CDC vouchers may be able to cover those too. TikToker Engel Koh (@engelkoh) got it done at EZ Dental Clinic, which has branches in Geylang Bahru and Bedok. A quick check on the clinic’s website shows that prices for teeth whitening starts from $168. Prices will vary across different dental clinics.

Where else can you use CDC vouchers?   Besides hawker food and everyday essentials, there are plenty of other merchants that accept CDC vouchers, many of which you may not even realise, even after redeeming CDC vouchers several times. Some of these include: Pet stores, manicure salons, hair salons, lash extensions services, and foot reflexology and massages, acupuncture, and more.

How to claim and redeem CDC vouchers?  Go to the CDC vouchers redemption website, click on CDC Vouchers 2025 (May), and log in with SingPass to redeem the latest set of CDC vouchers. 

Only one member of the household needs to do this. You will then receive an SMS notification with a  unique URL that contains the vouchers — all members of the household can access the vouchers via this link.
