I work with a woman whose mother passed away last month and now she’s raising a special needs kid by herself.

Every day at work, regardless of the topic of discussion, she starts complaining about her situation.

While I understand and sympathise, when she sat next to me and started venting and telling me how lucky I am to be childfree and still have both my parents around, I politely told her we all have our issues and right now, I’m just not in the right headspace to listen to her complaining.

She looked at me and went to sit next to somebody else, whispering about how rude I was.

Well, everyone has their own problems and we are not like close or what. I had it enough and did not want to hear her sob story.

So I told her to go jump down the building if she had enough, I also said that this is a workplace to earn money, not for you to sell your sad stories.

She then said she was just telling how she feel, I told her. “Guess what nobody cares, You sound like a geylang girl who tells me a sad story and wishes the customers tip them more. But your too ugly to be one.”

Am I wrong for not being her soundboard or unpaid therapist?
