COVID-19: Malaysia economy contracts 17.1% in 2nd quarter, worst slump since 1998 financial crisis

KUALA LUMPUR: Hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Malaysia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell by 17.1 per cent in the second quarter of 2020.
According to the Department of Statistics, this was Malaysia’s worst performance since the height of the Asian Financial Crisis in 1998.
