COVID-19: Singapore sees fourth coronavirus-related death

(PHOTO: Dhany Osman / Yahoo News Singapore)MoreSINGAPORE A fourth patient has died from COVID-19 infection in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed on Thursday (2 April).The ministry said in a media release that the patient was a 68 year-old male Indonesian national who was a Singapore work pass holder, and had been in Indonesia from 20 January to 16 March. He died on Thursday morning at 6.43am.The patient was admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases on 22 March, and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on the same day. He had been cared for in the intensive care unit (ICU) since 26 March.He had a history of diabetes and hypertension, and developed serious complications. He eventually succumbed to the infection after seven days in the ICU.Yahoo News Singapore understands that the mans profile matches that of Case 476, which was first reported by MOH on 23 March.Singapore had announced its first two deaths due to COVID-19 on 21 March, as a 75-year-old Singaporean woman and a 64-year-old Indonesian man died on the same day of the announcement.On Sunday (29 March), a third death was reported, this time of a 70-year-old Singaporean man.As of Wednesday, Singapore has confirmed 1,000 cases of COVID-19 infection, with 245 patients fully recovered and discharged.
